Nunavut Arctic College successfully hosted the 52nd College Chemistry Canada (C3) Conference from May 29 to June 1, 2026, welcoming chemistry educators and researchers from across Canada and the United States to the Nunatta Campus in Iqaluit.

Organized by NAC’s Pre-Health Sciences and Nursing Department and supported by teams from across the college and the Iqaluit community, the conference marked the first time in C3’s history that the event was held in Nunavut and within Inuit Nunangat. The 2026 theme, “Chemistry for All,” highlighted inclusive and culturally grounded approaches to science education.

The conference welcomed 61 participants representing nearly every Canadian province and territory, as well as colleagues from the United States. NAC also celebrated the first-ever participation of Aurora College, strengthening northern partnerships in science education. Local and regional involvement included representation from Inuksuk High School, École des Trois-Soleils (Iqaluit), and Maani Ulujuk Ilinniarvik (Rankin Inlet).

Student engagement was a highlight of the conference, with NAC Pre-Health Science students from Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit sharing poster presentations that reflected their science journeys, including the opportunities and challenges of learning and leading in the North. Student contributions were recognized through awards and scholarships.

In addition to academic sessions and research presentations, the conference featured cultural demonstrations and community activities that reflected the values and lived experiences of Nunavut, reinforcing the conference’s focus on relevance and inclusion in science education.
