Name Nunavut’s New Research & Education Internet Network — Naming Contest (Win a Meta Quest 2!)

Nunavut Arctic College (NAC) has successfully launched its new Research and Education Internet Network, now operational in all 25 communities and at every NAC facility. This high-speed network will strengthen research, learning, and innovation across Nunavut, while supporting greater collaboration within the territory and beyond.

With support from NAC’s federal partner CANARIE, this initiative forms part of a national and global effort to expand advanced research and education connectivity through cutting-edge low Earth orbit (LEO) technology.

As part of the launch, NAC is inviting members of the public to propose an Inuktitut name for the new network. Proposed names must be in Inuktitut, be no more than 1 word, and include a brief explanation of the name’s meaning and significance.

Suggested names may reflect themes such as the vastness of space or celestial bodies; speed and connectivity; the pursuit of knowledge and discovery; technological innovation; or abstract ideas that capture the essence of an Internet connection that brings research and education together in Nunavut in the pursuit of learning.

The selected submission will receive a FREE Meta Quest 2 (VR headset) and will be recognized on NAC social media.
